It’s been a bustling year for Zenith as it celebrates the 50th anniversary of its incredible El Primero high-recurrence programmed chronograph development. Restorations like the A384 and A 386,   modified releases for gatherers , and now this Chronomaster 2 all structure part of the merriments. The Chronomaster 2 Special 50th Anniversary Edition is a restricted version of 250 titanium watches (in blue and dark) with an updated El Primero 3600 Caliber. A high-recurrence development equipped for estimating 1/10th of a second like the 1969 rendition, the new age El Primero 3600 type includes a stop-seconds gadget and an expanded force hold of 60 hours. Hope to see it with various complications on different models in the close future.

What’s the buzz about?

Like the buzz produced around the 1969 El Primero, the enormous news with respect to the Chronomaster 2 isn’t such a huge amount about the watch however the development. Promoted by the brand as the “greatest change to the El Primero since the start”, Caliber 3600 was presented toward the start of 2019 out of one of the models (Chronomaster 2 Striking 10th) of the set of three known as “50 Years of El Primero Anniversary Set”.

Chronomaster 2

The Chronomaster 2 is the brand’s wagered on securing the El Primero solidly in the 21st century – tastefully and precisely. The skeletonised dial and measurements (42mm x 12.75mm) are more contemporary just like the case material, produced using lightweight titanium. Gotten done with brushed surfaces and cleaned chamfers, the case oozes a lively virile personality.

The unmistakable El Primero counters – in blue at 3 o’clock (elapsed seconds), anthracite at 6 o’clock (elapsed minutes) and light dim at 9 o’clock  (running seconds), a mark element of the first A386 model – somewhat cover each other and are put on the skeletonised dial. The date work shows up at 6 o’clock with a more obscure foundation and the whole date plate is uncovered on the dial. The rhodium-plated and faceted hour markers highlight Super-LumiNova on their tips as do the focal hour and moment hands.

What is diverse on the Chronomaster 2 compared to previous Chronomaster models is the graduated bezel, accessible in one or the other dark or blue clay. The bezel is moved on from 0 to 10, which at Zenith implies a high-accuracy estimation of the seconds. The Chronomaster 2 highlights the Striking Tenth idea. First presented by Zenith in 2011, the Striking Tenth permits the red focal chronograph hand to make a full compass of the dial in ten seconds, not the customary 60-second pivot. That is multiple times the speed of an ordinary chronograph hand and permits each hop of the red chronograph hand to show progressive tenths of a second on the 100 graduations of the spine and bezel. As should be obvious, there is no hours register on the dial in light of the fact that the Striking Tenth capacity doesn’t check elapsed hours.

El Primero 3600 – the way forward

A modernized and entirely overhauled form of the El Primero high-recurrence chronograph development, there were a few parts of the first that must be regarded: a coordinated development fusing a parallel grip, section wheel and metal ball mounted focal rotor, a high-recurrence of 36,000vph, and the 1/10th of a subsequent chronograph work. The particulars for the new development specified measured quality and advanced mechanical creation and required the expansion of a stop-seconds gadget and a more intense force save of 60 hours. The sapphire gem caseback uncovers portions of the programmed development including the star-formed swaying weight.
